Vancouver, BC (WNews) – It’s that time of the year once again as the last-minute shoppers finish their gift shopping and grocery run. Here’s what is open and closed on Christmas Day this year in 2021.

As Christmas falls on a Saturday, some institutions will be closed on Monday in lieu of.

What’s Open on Christmas

Coffees, Restaurants and Café

  • Dennie’s Restaurants. Most locations are open 24 hours.
  • 7 Eleventh Stores (7/11)
  • Some Drive-Through Starbucks
  • Some Pubs (check your local pubs for details)
  • Bars in B.C are closed until January 18 due to Health Orders
  • Restaurants that will be open on Christmas Day Saturday include Applebee’s, Arby’s, Boston Market, Buffalo Wild Wings, Burger King, Denny’s, Dunkin’, Firehouse Subs, IHOP, McDonald’s, Popeyes, Sonic Drive-In, Starbucks, Waffle House and Wendy’s. Locations may vary — call or visit websites to check for your local restaurants.

Entertainment/Attractions

  • Movie Theatres is open
  • Ski Hills (Check your local Ski Hill location for hours)

Vancouver

  • THE PEAK OF CHRISTMAS® at Grouse Mountian
  • Vancouver Aquarium (10 am to 4pm)
  • Christmas at Canada Place, Vancouver
  • Robson Square skating rink, Vancouver (11am to 5 pm/Free)

Toronto

  • Movie theatres: Check your local listings for showtimes.
  • Ripley’s Aquarium of Canada (288 Bremner Boulevard): 10 am to 8 pm. Note that holidays are exceptionally busy at this attraction, so it’s best to arrive early.
  • The Bentway (250 Fort York Boulevard)
  • High Park Zoo: From 9 am to 5 pm.
  • Ontario Place (955 Lake Shore Boulevard West): 6 am to 11 pm
  • Toronto Zoo (2000 Meadowvale Road): 10:30 am to 4:30 pm

Groceries and Retail Stories

  • Shoppers Drug Mart will have different hours at different branches. Check their website for more details.

Toronto

  • Rabba (various locations): open 24 hours
  • The Kitchen Table: (10 Queens Quay West): 6 am to 12 am;
  • The Kitchen Table: (389 Spadina Road): 7 am to 12 am
  • The Kitchen Table (705 King Street West): 6 am to 2 am
  • The Food Depot: (155 Dupont Street): open 24 hours
  • Galleria Supermarket: (7040 Yonge Street): 24 hours
  • Galleria Supermarket (865 York Mills Road): 7 am to 10 pm
  • Galleria Supermarket (558 Yonge Street): 8 am to 10 pm
  • Galleria Supermarket (351 Bloor Street West): 8 am to 10 pm
  • Summerhill Market (various locations): 9 am to 1 pm
  • Pacific Mall (4300 Steeles Avenue East): 11 am to 8 pm

Transit

  • Most transit services are running on reduced holiday schedules. Check out your local Agency for details.

  • Most Starbucks
  • Tim Hortons
  • Most restaurants and stores are open on Christmas Eve and closed on Christmas Day. Some may operate on different holiday hours Friday and/or Saturday.

Government/Institutions

These services will be also closed on Monday, Dec 27 & Tuesday, Dec 28 in lieu of Christmas Day & Boxing Day
