Vancouver, Canada (WNEWS) – It’s that time of year once again and as Christmas is on the weekend this year which means some extended closures for some businesses. Here’s what’s open and closed on Saturday, December 24.

Canada Wide

Institutions & Services

Government Institutions: Normally closed on weekends. Most will reopen on Wednesday.

Schools: Most schools are on Winter/Christmas Breaks. The majority will be back on January 3.

Driving and Licensing Services: Closed.

Banks and Credit Unions: Closed until Wednesday, December 28.

Post Offices: Closed until Wednesday, December 28

Transit: Check your local transit authority for hours of service. Many on Saturday/Weekend Hours.

Churches: Many places have services, check with your place of worship for service time.

Restaurants/Bars

Restaurants: Check with local restaurants for hours. Many will close early.

Bars/Pubs: Check with your favourite bar/pub for hours.

Coffee Shops: Check your local coffee shop for hours.

Denny: Open but some may close early

Mcdonald’s: Most locations are open 24/7 unless prohibited by local laws

Tim Hortons: Open but will close early. Check Your Tim Hortons for hours.

Starbucks: Open but will close early. Check Your Starbucks for hours

Retails/Stores

Shopping Centres: Most shopping centres are closed in the early evening. Check local mall for hours.

7-Eleven: Most locations open 24/7 days including Christmas

Groceries: Most grocery stores closed early on Christmas Eve. Check your grocery store website for hours.

Real Canadian Superstores: The majority of stores closed at 7 pm.

Save On Foods: most stores close at 6 pm

Costco: Most locations close at 4 pm. Check with the warehouse for hours.

Entertainment

Movie Theatres: Check with Theatres for hours

Nightclubs: Check your local nightclubs for hours

Attractions: Many attractions will close early. Check your favourite attractions for their hours of operation.
