Vancouver, BC (WNews Canada) – There are 753 new COVID cases in BC in the last 24 hours and 3 new deaths. Cases have doubled in a week. 53.7% of the new cases In the past week are from fully vaccinated people who have received at least two doses (1,600 cases) of a total of 2,980 new cases.
There are 3,878 active cases of COVID-19 in the province. 184 individuals are in hospital and 70 are in intensive care.
In the past 24 hours, three new deaths have been reported, for an overall total since January 2020 of 2,396.
New cases by HA:
- Fraser: 232 new cases, 1,091 active
- Coastal: 240 new cases, 999 active
- Interior: 99 new, 644 active
- Northern: 45 new, 238 active
- Island: 137 new, 905 active
There have been 135 cases of the Omicron variant of concern identified in B.C.:
- Fraser Health: 38
- Vancouver Coastal Health: 20
- Interior Health: five
- Northern Health: one
- Island Health: 71
From Dec. 8-14, people not fully vaccinated accounted for 46.3% of cases. From Dec. 1-14, they accounted for 70.2% of hospitalizations.
