Larger outdoor gatherings, patio dining and limited non-essential retail shopping are the big changes. But Phase 1 also allows for outdoor religious services, drive-in theatres and day camps for kids.
Some Ottawa bars planned on opening up their patios exactly at 12:01 a.m. until last call at 2 a.m. Friday.
The one exception to this reopening is the Porcupine Health Unit in northern Ontario, where restrictions will remain in place because the community is still having significant problems with spread.
