Victoria (WNews)- The BC Government is hinting of support for pay leaves to protect workers. Premier John Horgan mentioned the possible change in a press conference earlier on talking about reopening the economy.

“If You are not well, you should not go to work”- John Horgan on making sure that people stay at home. The days of going to work sick are over and the government wants to make sure that employees are protected.
BC does not require employers to pay sick leaves to workers but does allow unpaid leaves for personal use.
The government in March added changes to the Employment Standards act to make sure that people cannot be fired if they ended getting COVID19 or caring for a loved ones.
The government is going to be releasing plans on how to reopen the economy over the next couple of weeks, hinting the government will use the staging process as being used in other parts of Canada and the world. Dr. Bonnie Henry is releasing the latest modelling numbers on Monday.
The government is planning to reopen the economy with sector guidelines to reduce the risk of spreading COVID19 in the community.
