Man who killed his girlfriend in 2005 cold case gets 15 year prison sentence

Julius Esquilin, 38, pleaded guilty in February to manslaughter for firing the shot that killed Desiree Cofield, 22, in their Bedford-Stuyvesant apartment on Feb. 19, 2005. He was arrested in 2018 in the cold case killing after a reinvestigation of the murder turned up additional witnesses.
