Killer gets 25-year sentence a quarter-century after knifing Chelsea man

The case went cold on investigators for years, until 2010, when new DNA methods gave up a homeless man named Gordon Francis. The 60-year-old Francis was convicted June 28 of second-degree murder in the 1993 knifing of Hawkins, 50 in the voctim’s apartment.
