WNews (Surrey)- A police incident occurred in Surrey late Friday evening at a local shopping centre in Cloverdale.
According to witnesses at the scene, Surrey RCMP was called for a guy walking around with a weapon.
The Incident occurred in the Shopper Drug Mart’s parking lot at 18600-block of Fraser Highway, just after 8:30 pm. According to Courtney [we retracted her last name for protection], who saw the incident unfold with her two kids, told WNews that her husband went into Shoppers to grab some groceries.
“He was pacing around the sidewalk and then he walked towards my vehicle and looked in and I saw a very large gun, larger than a pistol, but not a shotgun.”- Courtney
Her two kids that were with her went into the trunk of the vehicle as they learnt about that with a school shooting drill. Courtney called 911 which the RCMP showed up within 5 mins of calling.
Courtney mentioned that he was pacing around in the parking lot, just ranting to someone on the phone regarding money owned.
“I got in the driver’s side by climbing over the console and drove very slowly away while I phoned my husband who told the staff to lock the store”
WNews witness an individual being arrested and put into a back of a police cruiser. One car was searched by the police. Two individuals were arrested at the scene but one person was released.
Courtney mentioned on a local Facebook group that her kids did not sleep last night due to the trama from Friday’s Individual
RCMP has not confirmed whether a firearm was found at the scene or what charges could be recommended.
This incident occurred meters away from a deadly day-time shooting at the nearby gas station. That shooting occurred on September 28, 2019, that killed one individual. That investigation is still ongoing.
