OTTAWA (WNEWS) – Canada announced that the U.S.- Canada land border will continue to remain closed for another month until June 21. Public Safety Minister Bill Blair tweeted, “We will continue to base our decisions on the best public health advice available to keep Canadians safe from #COVID19.”
Border crossings were first shut to most non-essential traffic in March 2020, over a year now.
Travelers who are exempt from the travel restrictions will have to show a negative COVID-19 test that is taken anytime within 72 hours before coming to Canada. They will also need to take another test when they arrive, and quarantine in a government-approved facility for three days while they wait for their results before the 14-day quarantine requirement. The three-day hotel stay can count towards your quarantine period. On the eighth day, travelers are required to take a third and final COVID-19 test.
International flights are allowed into Toronto, Montreal, Calgary, and Vancouver currently.
