Victoria, BC (WNews Vancouver) – B.C is reporting an all-time daily record of 1,308 cases & 1 new death in the past 24 hours. 786 cases of the Omicron variant have been identified in B.C. The majority of new cases are from fully vaccinated. 60% of the new cases are the Omicron variant

There are 6,348 active cases of COVID-19 in the province, and 220,741 people who tested positive have recovered. Of the active cases, 192 individuals (up 7 since Monday) are in hospital and 76 (down 1 since Monday) are in intensive care. The remaining people are recovering at home in self-isolation.

Over 69.6% (up 9.0% since Monday’s update) of the new cases reported over the past week are from fully vaccinated people while just 29.4% (down 8.1% since Monday) of new cases are from unvaccinated people. 1.3% of new cases are from Partially vaccinated.

Since December 2020, the Province has administered 9,190,914 doses of Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna, AstraZeneca and Pfizer Pediatric COVID-19 vaccines.

This comes after the province released new orders in addition to the health orders released last Friday. The province has ordered gyms, bars and nightclubs to be closed as of December 23 and last until January 18, 2022.

In the last 24 hours, one new death (Northern Health) has been reported, for an overall total of 2,403.
