‘Lots of love’: Thousands of knocks on the door bring food and friendship across King County

Nourishment doesn’t just come from the meals and groceries delivered to elderly residents by Sound Generations, one of the nonprofits helped by holiday donations to The Seattle Times Fund For The Needy. Drivers such as Fai Mathews feed souls through conversation, companionship and company. “I listen to them,” Mathews says. “If they’re having a hard time, I give them a hug.”
