Alaskan heat wave could rise to record levels for Independence Day

Independence Day temperatures will continue the heat wave in the nation’s northernmost state. Across south Alaska, mercury is expected to rise to record or near-record levels on the nation’s 423rd birthday and continue at above-average levels through next week, the National Weather Service reports.
