‘Still on the farm’: NY State Police struggles to diversify

New York State Police Senior Investigator Kim Bryson holds a photo of a racist image that a white colleague hung in her office that superimposed her face on that of a Black woman at work in a “House of Chitlins” kitchen, during a news interview Thursday, April 15, 2021, in Wheatley Heights, N.Y. “It basically solidified for me who I was dealing with,” Bryson said, adding the incident happened eight or nine years earlier. “I look forward to the day when I can honestly say the State Police takes racism seriously.” (Frank Franklin II/AP)
