Judge says nearly 1,700 inmates can sue Brooklyn’s MDC jail as a group over freezing conditions in 2019

The lawsuit was originally filed in February 2019, and alleged unlawful punishment, “cruel, unusual, degrading, and inhuman conditions,” as well as negligence on the part of jail staff and management. It names former Warden Herman Quay, among others, as a defendant.
