Experts highly doubt India official's 'Singapore variant' claims

Experts have cast doubt on claims by a top Indian official that a new variant of the coronavirus has been detected in Singapore.

Delhi’s chief minister Arvind Kejriwal called on a halt to flights saying a new “Singapore strain” was “extremely dangerous for children”.

He added that it could result in a third wave of the infection in India.

Singapore’s government dismissed the reports on Tuesday evening, saying there is “no truth whatsoever” in them.
