A U.S. jury reached a verdict of guilty on Wednesday in the trial of British socialite Ghislaine Maxwell, who is accused of helping the late financier Jeffrey Epstein sexually abuse teenage girls.
Maxwell, 60, had pleaded not guilty to recruiting and grooming four teenagers for Epstein between 1994 and 2004.
Epstein, her former boyfriend, killed himself in 2019 in a Manhattan jail cell while awaiting trial on sex abuse charges of his own.
The jury’s foreperson was expected to read out the verdict on charges of sex trafficking and other crimes in federal court in Manhattan.
