BREAKING: Police Incident Force Closure of Metrotown Mall & SkyTrain Station

Burnaby, BC (WNEWS BREAKING) – Burnaby RCMP and Transit Police are asking everyone to avoid Metrotown Mall and the surrounding area due to an ongoing police incident.

Metrotown Station has been cleared according to a tweet update

“Metrotown Station has been cleared, however the station remains closed.

Police remain inside the mall doing a search related to unconfirmed reports of shots fired.

There are no reported injuries, and there is no evidence of an active threat. We are ensuring the area is safe.” – Burnaby RCMP

 

The mall has been evacuated as a precaution and no trains or buses are stopping at Metrotown Station at this time.

RCMP in a statement that There are unconfirmed reports of shots being fired. The mall is being searched. There are no known injuries.

Transit Police has also closed down Metrotown Station due to a bomb threat according to the RCMP tweet update. It’s unclear whether the incidents are connected.
