How becoming a mother helped me discover what it means to me to be Mi'kmaw

When I learned I was pregnant with my son, I started asking myself, “What does it mean to be a Mi’kmaw mother?”

It is a hard question to answer when you do not know what it means to be Mi’kmaw, let alone a Mi’kmaw mother. That is when I started to look back on
