Mexico’s President to finally take the vaccine

Mexico’s president, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, said today that he soon plans to get the AstraZeneca coronavirus vaccine to raise confidence in the shot after it was said to be linked to a rare blood-clotting disorder.

The AstraZeneca vaccine is one of several being used for people over 60 in Mexico’s current round. The 67-year-old Mexican leader said “The benefits far outweigh any risks. This is the one I am going to get, AstraZeneca, as long as it helps build confidence.”

This statement comes as a surprise as the president has been double-minded about getting vaccinated. After being infected with the new coronavirus in January, he said that he wouldn’t get a vaccine because his doctors told him he still has a high level of antibodies.
