Families of unlawfully detained Americans left with mixed emotions after Blinken tried to reassure them in call

Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Wednesday did not promise a meeting with President Joe Biden for the families of Americans held hostage and wrongfully detained abroad, but he sought to assure them that the administration is making every effort to bring their loved ones home, according to a senior State Department official and sources familiar with the video call.

While the families were largely appreciative of the conversation with the top US diplomat, some said they still hoped to meet with the President and others walked away frustrated by what they see as a lack of urgency and concrete action from the administration.
