39 Ontario trucking businesses shut down after freedom convoy protests

In a statement provided to Truck News, the Ministry of Transportation confirmed that 12 suspensions and seizure orders were issued against large trucking businesses that were involved in the protests. This allowed the suspension of their operating authority in Canada. It also allows them to seize all plates registered to the companies.

Furthermore, 27 seizure orders were issued outside of the province to operators of large trucks. This effectively bans them from operating a commercial motor vehicle in Ontario.

“In an effort to preserve future police investigations into the illegal occupation in Ottawa, the ministry will not release the names of affected businesses at this time,” a ministry spokesperson said.

In addition to this, 24 passenger vehicle license plates were also suspended, as well as 34 passenger vehicles from outside of the province. A total of 115 vehicles were towed.
