Vancouver, Canada (WNews)- As Canadians enjoy the long weekend, companies in BC that provide personal services like haircuts and spa can reopen beginning on May 19. Dr. Bonnie Henry, the Provincial Health Officer, provided notice that personal services can be reopened if they can follow guidelines set forth by WorkSafeBC.

Henry, on April 16, 2020, ordered all personal Services to closed to stop the spread of COVID19. Fraser Health has canceled their orders of gyms, yoga, and other fitness facilities, saying they can reopen beginning May 19, should they have a plan in place.

“Facilities must develop a written COVID-19 mitigation plan and keep it on site and updated as per WorkSafeBC, however the plan does not need to be submitted to Fraser Health.

These guidelines support fitness facilities in reducing the risk that COVID-19 could spread at their establishment if they wish to open.” – Fraser Health’s website.

This comes after 15 new cases, and three new deaths were reported in the province. People are advised to stay and travel locally during the long weekend. BC Ferries is advising against non-essential travel to the island. Campgrounds at BC Parks are not reopening until June 1st
