In June and early July, BC and the Pacific Northwest experienced a massive heat dome that sparked some of the highest temperature records. This later would start one of the worst forest fire seasons in B.C. History.
From June 25 to June 28, in parts of Metro Vancouver and Fraser Valley, the highs reached in the mid-40s C. The village of Lytton reached Canada’s hottest temps of 49.6 C. estimated 1,408+ deaths and 798 deaths had been confirmed due to the heatwave, including 569 confirmed deaths in B.C.
