Ice Storm Warning
Alert:
…ICE STORM WARNING IN EFFECT UNTIL MIDNIGHT PST TONIGHT…
* WHAT…Significant icing occurring. The ice will result in
difficult travel conditions, downed trees and power outages.
Additional ice accumulations of around one tenth are expected,
with storm total icing near one-quarter of an inch.
* WHERE…Inland portions of Western Whatcom County generally
north and northeast of Bellingham. This includes Ferndale,
Lynden, and Sumas.
* WHEN…Until midnight PST tonight.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS…The worst conditions are near the Canadian
border near Sumas, where power outages have occurred. Downed
trees have been reported near Lynden. A warmer west wind will
arrive late this evening, with overnight temperatures rising
well above freezing, so freezing rain will end late this
evening. If venturing out later tonight, beware of ice falling
out of trees and off buildings.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

accumulation will make travel dangerous or impossible. Travel is
strongly discouraged. If you must travel, keep an extra
flashlight, food and water in your vehicle in case of an
emergency. Snapped power lines and falling tree branches are also
possible. The latest road conditions for the state you are
