Prosecutors said Tesher, 83, during almost five years, needlessly wrote 14,000 oxycodone prescriptions that flooded the city with more than 2.2 million painkiller pills. Two counts related to Nicholas Benedetto, a 27-year-old Staten Island man, who died in 2016 with oxycodone and fentanyl in his system two days after a visit to Tesher.
