Four members of a US family have been killed in a road crash in the Republic of Ireland.
The victims – a woman in her 70s, a man in his 70s and two men in their 50s – were all from Illinois.
They had been due to attend a family funeral, and are understood to have arrived at Shannon airport just hours earlier.
They died when their car crashed with a lorry on the N25 near New Ross, County Wexford, at about 18:30 on Monday.
The lorry driver and a passenger who was in the vehicle were not hurt.
Gardaí (Irish Police) believe the two older passengers may have originally been from Ireland.
A local councillor said the incident was “completely devastating”.
“Everyone is just shocked by what has happened,” said John Fleming.
