Chicago, USA (WNews)- Talk about being cold, parts of Canada and the USA is being hit by a record and dangerous cold which caused temperatures records and windchills.

The cold weather started last week with a strong polar plunge coming from the Arctic which caused temperatures to drop below zero degrees or 32 ° F. The high in Chicago today was around 0°F (-17°) with the wind chill feeling way colder.
In Winterpeg aka Winnipeg, Canada, the windchill reached -50°C (-58° F) while the temperature is expected to get colder over the coming days. In the Canadian Capital, the temperature has been hovering around the -40° C (-40°F) windchills over the last few days. In contrast, the warmest city In the country has been Vancouver which has been experiencing a balmy 8°C with flowers beginning to blossom.
The temperature is expected to get worst across the US mid-west with wind chills expected to get to -60°F (-51°C) which is colder than the South Poles. The Cold has been blamed for one death in Minnesota and caused a statewide state of emergencies. In the Dakotas, the temperature has plunged to -50°F (-45°C). Some parts of the Great Lakes has windchills reaching -65° F (-53°C). The temperatures have caused the Great Lakes to freeze up with Lake Superior having the most surface of the ice.
