Maple Ridge, BC (WNewsNetwork)-How would you feel if you were kicked out of a local pub for no reasons given. That what happen to two young females last Monday in Maple Ridge.
Stephanie Dupuis and Chloe Warning after arriving at the Billy Miner in Maple Ridge, they were told by the server that they have to be kicked because Chloe’s Mother was let out earlier that year.
Chloe got a gift card from a golf tournament last summer and she decided to use her gift card last Monday before her and Stephanie went to the movies.
Deanne, Chloe’s Mother was let go for no reasons after workiing for the owners for 9 years including 4-5 years at the Billy Miner. According to Deanne’s, the owner who owns the Billy Miner took over the management and let go the GM before Deanne. According to Leanne, the owners who owns several liquor stores and pubs in Canada and International, they treated her poorly, cutting the tips pool to give to the kitchen staff.
Another friend, Shanlee who use to work at another liquor store told us that they treated her very poorly and did not give her the proper tax forms required.
They all say that the way the owners treat their employees were horrible. Since the owners took over the pub since they felt they were paying too much for management. Deanne went to the BC labor board to get her severance and other wages that were owned because she was let go.
Stephanie quit her job because of issues of treatment of the servers. According to her there were major Favoritism within the company. There were major issues with pay as a large percentage of the servers tip were given to the back kitchen staff if they requested a wage increase.
They also told us they ban former employees who were fired were banned from owners businesses for 3 months or 6 months, which was up to the management team for how long they were banned for.
Some of the former employees who were illegally terminated are currently in the process of legal actions against the owners or they have settled with the company.
The reasons they wanted to talk to WNewsNetwork is because they want to tell how the owners and management treats their employees and how they targeted management to lay them off so they can save money.
The owners Brock Rodger and Ken Brookes owns 9 liquor stores, 3 breweries pubs, 2 breweries including two businesses in South Korea. They also owns other businesses around the Lower Mainland including Mission, Maple Ridge and Whistler.
